Cultural Management for Tourism (English Caption)

Course Description 

Tourism management course focuses on an understanding of how culture can be deployed in tourism industry. This is in order to make it most beneficial to both tourists and the local people by demonstrating both theoretical and practical knowledge to learners. The details are divided into three parts: 

  1. Definition and meaning: In this section, definitions and meanings of culture in the context of tourism, along with important terms and concepts, will be explained. This is to give learners background to further parts of the course.
  2. Components of cultural tourism: This section explains the components of tourism such as tourism resources, tourists, and tourism management. Also, different types of tourism that concern culture such as cultural tourism, creative tourism, historical tourism, archaeological tourism, and tourism focusing on local cultural traditions will be presented too.
  3. Tourism management: In this section, the content concerns tourism management that includes research on tourism to understand tourism management and risks of the management, the preservations of culture or the revival of cultural practices for tourism, the cultural interpretation, marketing, and the integration of tourism management.

Total hours of learning: 10 (The number of hours of the video clips is 3 hours and 30 minutes.)

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learners can tell the definition of culture and meanings of relevant terms in the context of tourism. 
  2. Learners can explain about the components of cultural tourism.
  3. Learners can explain about concepts relevant to types of cultural tourism management.
  4. Learners can apply the knowledge to real-life cultural tourism management.

Qualifications of learners:

Students and people of all ages who are interested in this course


Evaluation criteria: 

The criteria are as follows: pre-test, course activities or tasks, exams, post-test. Learners who gain 70% of the total scores or more than that pass this course and will be awarded an electronic certificate.
