การดูแลทางจิตวิญญาณสำหรับผู้สูงอายุ

คำว่าจิตวิญญาณในที่นี้ หมายถึง กระบวนการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างต่อเนื่องในหลาย ๆ ด้านของชีวิต (dynamic changes) และหมายถึงประสบการณ์ที่นำไปสู่ความเข้าใจชีวิตที่ลึกซึ้งยิ่งขึ้น (transcendent experience) จิตวิญญาณเป็นส่วนสำคัญของชีวิตคนเราและยิ่งสำคัญมากขึ้นเมื่อคนคนหนึ่งเติบโตขึ้น ประเด็นสำคัญของบทเรียนนี้คือ การดูแลทางจิตวิญญาณสำหรับผู้ป่วยสูงอายุ ซึ่งแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ประเด็นหลัก ได้แก่ 1) ความเข้าใจเบื้องต้นเกี่ยวกับจิตวิญญาณและความทุกข์ 2) วิธีทบทวนชีวิตที่ผ่านมาและการค้นหาความหมายของชีวิต และ 3) การดูแลผู้สูงอายุในมิติทางจิตวิญญาณ

วัตถุประสงค์การเรียน
วัตถุประสงค์หลักของรายวิชานี้คือ เพื่อช่วยให้ผู้เรียนเข้าใจกระบวนการของการเข้าสู่วัยชรา ความแตกต่างระหว่างความชราและโรคภัย และประเด็นที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการดูแลผู้สูงอายุ เช่น การส่งเสริมสุขภาพ การละเลยผู้สูงอายุและการทารุณกรรมผู้สูงอายุ การดูแลผู้ป่วยระยะสุดท้าย และการดูแลแบบประคับประคอง ตลอดจนการดูแลผู้ป่วยในมิติด้านจิตวิญญาณ ฯลฯ
